About Miss Christyn Kingsbury

I was born in the United States, but began living overseas at the age of four. I attended international schools in England, Egypt, Israel, and Jordan, and graduated high school from Cairo American College. I attended the University of California, Irvine, where I received my Bachelors in English and Masters in Teaching.

I began my teaching career here in the West Valley teaching 7th Grade Language Arts in both an elementary and middle school setting. During this time, I participated in leadership roles by being a Grade Level Chair or Team Lead, and took part in various language and assessment committees. In 2018, I moved to Washington, DC, and began teaching at the British International School of Washington. Whilst there, I taught middle school English, IB Language and Literature, IB English B, and both the Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE courses. Next, I moved abroad again in 2022 and taught American Studies Combo Grade 10 and IB A: Language and Literature at the American Community Schools of Athens in Athens, Greece. Lastly, I moved back to Arizona in 2023 to be closer to family and I am thrilled to be here at Deer Valley High School.

I also enjoy being involved in the extracurricular life of a school. In the past, I have led Student Council, acted as a backstage manager and vocal coach for musical productions, assisted with Newspaper and Yearbook Club, and facilitated numerous reading, writing, and poetry clubs.
